Under Culture Conquers Freddy's Backroom

Freddy's Bar in Brooklyn

Under Culture ripped through its inaugural set on March 15, 2015, turning the backroom at Freddy's Bar in the South Slope of Brooklyn into it's own party hall.  With roaring, anthemic classic modern American hard rock tunes pouring out their amps, the members of Under Culture played a 50 minute set of 11 original songs. The party could have come to a screeching halt when mid-way through the set, for unknown reasons, dreaded "technical difficulties" took over when the entire PA System shut down, killing all four mikes as well as the keyboard that was playing through it.

However, with quick thinking and a ton of balls, lead vocalist Mike Turk discarded his mike and danced onto the main floor, engaging the crowd in an acapella sing-a-long.  Lead guitarist Jon Popin followed Mike into the fray and accompanied him while Freddy's techs remedied the situation.  Jon decided to stay out on the floor a little longer, even once the mikes were up again, working the crowd a little more.  Andres Marin pounded the skins with recklessness while Oren Bayone hit his stride with deep, heavy bass licks and Ryan Metosky admirably and ably took turns crunching out riffs on his stratocaster and making beautiful sounds on his keyboard.  The crowd loved the show and the band appreciated the crowd.  It was a great first act.

Hail Under Culture!
